Mays, Maybelle
Maybelle Mays, 83, of 4111 Lexington Dr. NE, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Per Maybelle's request there will be no service. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Marvelton Smith, and three daughters, Marcia, Vera and Elizabeth Mays, all of Cedar Rapids.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Maggie Gibson.
Maybelle was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Sheridan, Ark., the daughter of Horace and Estella (Ethridge) Mays. She was assistant shipping manager at Penfield Press in Iowa City and retired from there after more than 20 years of service.
Maybelle enjoyed fishing, crocheting, going to Tama with her friends, and especially the time she spent with her beloved family.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
