Mayo, Helen Clayton
Helen Clayton Mayo, 78, of Grinnell, formerly of Brooklyn, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Celebration of Life Service: 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Madison Church of Christ, rural Brooklyn, with Mr. Dennis Smith officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Family burial will be in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.
Helen is survived by her husband, Malcom Mayo; children, Ronald (Judie) and Richard (Kay) Clayton, both of Grinnell, Louise (Steve) Worsham of Dover, Ohio, Susan (John) St. John of Aurora, Colo., David (Julie) Clayton of Pinole, Calif., and Virginia (Eric) Roudabush of Mount Vernon. She is also survived by Malcom's four children, Kenny Mayo, Karen Plum, Linda (Bill) Heine and Donna (Chris) Round; 29 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothea Lang of Brooklyn, Charles (Melinda) Anthony of Des Moines and Rich (Kathy) Anthony of Anamosa; sisters-in-law, Mary Dean, Pauline Phipps and Margaret Clayton, and brother-in law, Paul (Marge) Clayton, all of Grinnell; brother-in-law, Calvin Mayo of Blakesburg; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, David and Grace Anthony; first husband, Roger Clayton; grandson, Logan Roudabush; and stepdaughter, Donna (Clayton) Kirby.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the family.
