Maynard "Mike" Rowray, 78, of Marion, passed away June 28, 2021, after a long illness. There is no viewing or services planned.
Mike was born May 20, 1943, in Cedar Rapids. Surviving are his wife, Jinty; along with two children, son, Elliott (Angie), and grandson, Drayden, of Marion; daughter, Deborah, of Ohio; and brother and sister in-law, Ray and Diane Vick of Monticello.
Mike was an Air Force veteran, trained in ground support and communications. He attended college in California majoring in business and finance. He served a one-year internship in finance before returning to Iowa. He continued working in financial services before accepting a position at St Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, as director, business and telecommunication services, where he retired after 25 years.
Mike enjoyed playing bridge, earning a national rank as Ruby Life Master. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying to events he was involved with and taking the family on short trips.
Mike, at the request of US WEST, served on their direct dialogue consumer council. Later, he was asked to serve on a state consumer panel, appointed by Gov. Branstad.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy and the staff of The Views for their care of Mike.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.
