Maynard D. Long, 89, a loving husband and father, passed away Sept. 12, 2017, at his home in Melbourne, Fla. Services were held Sept. 15.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna Mae (Lampe); their three children, Jeff Long and his wife, Lisa, Crystal, Minn., Leanne Olmscheid and her husband, Daryl, Palm Bay, Fla., and Greg Long and his wife, Marnie, West Melbourne; seven grandchildren, Mat, Nick, Kirby, Bryce, Baily, Mike and Kyle; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Lesta Robinson of Johnston (formerly of Marion and Masonville); and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, Leland and Bessie Long of Coggon, preceded him in death.
Maynard was born May 15, 1928, in Linn County. He raised his family in Hiawatha, Marion and Minnesota before moving to Florida in 1982. While in Minnesota, he loved to spend time with his family at the cabin on the lake in the summer and out on the snowmobiles in the winter.
He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes, Melbourne. Maynard will be remembered for his kind heart and gentle laugh and love of family and friends, both near and far.
