May Gardner, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. Per May's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Damon Gardner Jr. of Gravois Mills, Mo., David (Connie) Gardner of Wales, Wis., Judith Nollen of Plano, Texas, Daniel (Nancy) Gardner of Cedar Rapids, Dale Gardner of Alburnett and Jill (Ken) Paul of Marion; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a niece, Jackie (Steve) Gunn of St. Paul, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Damon Gardner Sr.; sister, Isabelle; and son-in-law, Tim.
May was born April 21, 1928, in Chicago, to Elsie Heerhold. She married Damon H. Gardner Sr. He passed away in 1994. May was employed at Sears and K's Merchandise in the accounting department for many years. She loved the outdoors, needle crafts, cake decorating and taking care of her koi pond. May loved birds and her cats, but her greatest love of all was her family and the time spent with them. She will be missed by all who knew her.
