MAXINE E. WELCH
Cedar Rapids
Maxine E. Welch, born Jan. 7, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Her parents were Frank and Hazel Eddins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathryn B. Parnell; and brothers, Wilford and Russell Eddins.
She married Ted J. Welch on March 30, 1967. He preceded her in 1996.
She is survived by three stepsons, Michael J. Welch of Cedar Rapids, Theodore (Teed) John Welch Jr. (Sara Brenner) of New York, and Peter B. Welch and wife Marlene Meyer of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Theodore John Welch III of New York City; and granddaughter, Rebecca Welch of Cedar Rapids.
She is also survived by James and Peggy Meek of Cedar Rapids and their children, Sarah Swanson (Eric), and their children, Emily and William Swanson; Mary Keane (Steve), and their children, James, John and Sarah Keane; Margaret Duggan (Mike), and their children. Maggie, Michael and Mary Catherine Duggan; John Meek (Molly), and their children, Kate, Grant, Geoff and Eleanor Meek; Peg Hicks (Jim), and their children, James and Catherine Hicks; a niece, Judy Hasson (Hamode), and their children, Jolene Hoffman and her daughter, Elaine Hoffman; Rob Slocum (Dianne), Sandy Jordan (Steve), Michael Hasson (Kris), and their children, Ava and Jenna Hasson; and two nieces, Janis Nielson and Kathy Anthony.
Maxine and Ted loved to travel the world and made many special friends on their travels led by Helen and Hank Hey. After Ted was gone, Maxine was always in the company of Marge Boeckenstedt and Linda Trosky. Maxine and Ted made many charitable contributions to the Cedar Rapids and Naples, Fla., area.
Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.There will be a Celebration of Life reception following at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
