MAXINE SEDLACEK

Maxine M. Sedlacek, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Jude Catholic Church, by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Maxine is survived by her sons, Doug (Jennifer) and Neil (Betty), both of Cedar Rapids, and Mark (Maureen) of Keosauqua; daughter, Jill Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Rachel and Luke; 12 stepgrand-children; brother, Virgil; sisters, Peggy and Donna; and sister-in-law, Leola Thornbloom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin "Sid"; parents, John and Caroline; and siblings, Larry, Alvin, Pauline and Irene.
Maxine M. was born Sept. 13, 1928, in Clutier, the daughter of John and Caroline (Herdlicka) Posusta. She married Marvin Lloyd Sedlacek on May 3, 1948, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Maxine and Marvin lived on a farm on the end of Johnson Avenue until 1966. She helped her husband on the farm and raised a family and a large garden every year. Maxine was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Maxine was a loving homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and taking care of her family. Kolaches, hickory nut cake, rolls, peach pie and cream puffs were some of her specialties.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Family Catholic Schools or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
