Thelma Maxine Parr, 89, of Marion, and formerly of Cedar Rapids, went home to be with those who passed before her on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha following a short illness.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Westside Chapel. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel location. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Maxine was born on April 13, 1927, in Lucedale, Miss., the daughter of George and Marie Whitten Trowbridge. On Sep. 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to Joseph Parr in Cedar Rapids. To this union two daughters were born.
Maxine was employed by Rockwell Collins for 25 years before retiring in 1984. She was a proud member of the IBEW 1362 and her work as a union steward.
Maxine will be missed by her daughters, Lynne (Craig) Hobler of Marion and Gail Baker of Cedar Rapids; one grandson, Mike (Valerie) Baker of Cedar Rapids; one great-granddaughter, Vivian; two nieces and their families; and her beloved cat, Callie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, who passed in 1970; her parents; her sister, Betty Kolman; and her infant grandson, Joey Baker.
The family would like to thank the Mercy Hospice House for the compassionate care they showed for their mother.
