Maxine L. Parker, age 87, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A funeral service for Maxine Parker will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Wendy Johannesen of West St. Charles Church and Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Sunnyside Memory Garden in rural Charles City.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at Hauser Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Maxine LaVonne (Sigler) Parker, the daughter of Martin and Dorothy Sigler, was born on Aug. 4, 1930, at her grandparents' home, Guy and Bertha Jenkins, in Rudd, Iowa. At the age of 3, she moved with her parents south of Rudd. She attended grade school at Ulster #2 and graduated from Rudd High School in 1947. She started her 37-year career with Northwestern Bell Co. immediately following graduation.
On Sept. 9, 1948, she married Calvin Swancutt; they later divorced. On Oct. 25, 1952, she was united into marriage to Gerald "Jerry" M. Parker. To this union eight children were born: Starla, Sheila, Dana, Jerry Lee, ZoAnne, Brent, Michelle and Glade.
Maxine enjoyed traveling, genealogy and spending time with her family at holidays and get-togethers.
Living family members include her children, Starla (Tom Hildman) Vega, Dana (Barbara) Parker, Jerry Lee (Jeannie) Parker, Brent (Julie) Parker, Michelle (Gary) Brandt and Glade (Valerie) Parker; grandchildren, Brock Kielty, Brandan (Emily) Kielty, Alohna Ammons, Heather (Josh) Weber, Haley (Joel) King, Lindsay Parker, Larissa Parker, Casey (CJ) Parker, Ryan (Mandi) Parker, Ben (Ccelssii) Parker, Tyler (Tyler) Parker, Trent (Brittany) Parker, Renae Parker (Ryan Huinker), Casi Roethler (Andy Roff), Levi Roethler and Dallas Parker; 21 great-grandchildren; special friend and caregiver, Luz Arenas; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald "Jerry" in 2002; two infant daughters, Sheila and ZoAnne; sisters, Buelah Mae Sigler and Connie Kantaris; brothers, Martin D. Sigler and Larry Sigler; parents, Martin and Dorothy Sigler; and grandparents, Alonzo and Myrtle Sigler and Guy and Bertha Jenkins.
