Maxine Hofer, 93, of Waukee, Iowa, and formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at the Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW, 3240 Southgate Place SW, Cedar Rapids, on Friday, April 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a memorial service at 5:30 p.m.
Maxine is survived by her children, Barbara Hofer Anderson of Naples, Fla., and Tom (Lisa) Hofer of Grimes, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Hofer; infant children, Jimmy and Bonnie Hofer; and her parents and siblings.
Maxine and Kenny were married from June 6, 1947, until Kenny's death in October 1986. She was involved in their businesses, including the Kenny Hofer Music Mart, the Kenny Hofer Orchestra and Hofer's Danceland Ballroom. She played in the band for a number of years, and enjoyed being a tour guide for numerous tours throughout the United States, Europe, the Caribbean and Hawaii.
