Maxine Hofer, 93, of Clive, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Village at Legacy Pointe, Waukee. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Surviving are her children, Barbara Hofer Anderson of Naples, Fla., and Tom (Lisa) Hofer of Grimes, Iowa; grand-children, Mike (Eva) Anderson, Jon Anderson, Robyn (Rick) Baldenegro, Leigh (David) Benish, Kenny Hofer, Aaron (Jordan) Thomas and Jennifer (Rod) Claiser; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Hofer; parents; siblings; and two infant children.
Maxine and Kenny were married from 1947 until his death in 1986. She was involved in their businesses, including the Kenny Hofer Music Mart, the Kenny Hofer Orchestra and Hofer's Danceland Ballroom. She played in the band for a number of years and enjoyed being a tour guide for numerous tours throughout the United States, Europe, the Caribbean and Hawaii.
