Maxine F. Hart, 96, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Ottumwa, was ushered into the arms of Jesus at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9, 2021, at Winslow House Care Center, Marion, Iowa.
She was born March 7, 1925, in Ottumwa, to James and Blanche Morgan Parrish. Maxine Parrish married Vernon E. "Gene" Hart on Dec. 18, 1942. They were married for 67 years, prior to Gene's death on May 16, 2010.
Maxine is survived by two sons, James Michael (Shirley) Hart and Terry Gene (Ruth) Hart, both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Michelle Hart, Jennifer Pospisil, Matthew Hart, Rachael Hill and Leah Donald; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, JoAnn Klapp of Galesburg, Ill., and Mary Reichelt of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; three sisters, Geraldine Windhorst, Barbara Ellis and Betty Cook; and two brothers, infant brother James Parrish Jr. and Errett L. "Porky" Parrish.
Maxine loved to cook and host family dinners. She was always there for others especially family members. She loved her church and church activities and in later years, her church services on television. She has a great love for her family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Reece Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. The family will be present to greet friends and family one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, you may view the service on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Private burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Winslow House Care Center, Marion, Iowa, or Hospice of Mercy, Cedar Rapids.
