Max W. Stransky, 80, passed away on Friday, June 20,2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. He has been cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for the Tunnel To Towers Foundation (https://t2t.org/)
Max Weldon Stransky was born December 27, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Marion and Winifred (Allen) Stransky. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School and attended Iowa State University. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Emde on October 24, 1964, at Franklin Methodist Church in rural Wellman. He farmed with his father in rural Kalona, was a truck driver for Heartland Express, and drove a school bus for Iowa City School District and a tour bus for Tri State Travel. Max enjoyed farming, classic cars, motorcycle riding, puzzles, WWII history, aeronautics, sketching and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ann and daughter Angela Stransky of Cedar Rapids, two sisters: Phyllis (Harvey) Timmons of Sun City Center, Fla., and JoAnn Thomas of Gainsville, Fla., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding Max in death were his parents, two brothers: Frank and Allan Stransky, brother-in-law Melvin Thomas, sister-in-law Edith Stransky, and three nephews: Dennis Stransky, Craig Thomas, and Duane Timmons.
