Max J. Neppel passed away on September 27, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Max was born in Carroll, Iowa to parents Ralph and Jean Neppel. He graduated from Regina Catholic High School. He was married to his wife, LaVaughn at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in 1979. Max retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He enjoyed traveling and playing Euchre with the guys.
Max’s family includes his wife, LaVaughn; siblings, Vernona (Lynn) Myers, Gail (Mike) O’Donnell, and Brian (Dawn) Neppel all of Iowa City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
