MAX HERRMANN

Max R. Herrmann, 84, of Ladora, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Belle Plaine Nursing Home. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Marengo Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established.
Max is survived by his son Eric and wife Melissa of Marengo; three grandchildren, Joseph, Anna and Ellie Herrmann; and a special friend, Elaine Behounek of Marengo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Max Rudolph Herrmann was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Ladora, Iowa, the son of Adolf and Elisabeth Scheidt Herrmann. He graduated from Ladora High School, Class of 1951. Max served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1954, serving in Korea. He and Mary Hartwig were married in 1961. The couple later divorced.
Max was a farmer and electrician by profession. He was a lifetime member and commander of Ladora American Legion Post 621, a member of Marengo Legion Post 76, NRA and Iowa Long Rifle. Max enjoyed collecting old gas engines and farm toys.
