Max Fitz, 91, passed away on Sept. 15, 2021, with his family at his side. Service: Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Max Herbert Fitz was born July 25, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo., the adopted son of Lewis and Alberta (Young) Fitz.
Max was a graduate of Arlington High School, Coe College, and earned his MBA from Indiana University.
He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1952, including a tour of duty in Korea.
Max was united in marriage in 1952 to his first wife, Wanda Ward. She passed away in 1989. He was then united in marriage to his second wife, Jean Cordes Chester, in 1990.
He was a pioneer in the data processing field, starting with Collins Radio, Merchant's National Bank, EDS, Occo, and retiring from Armstrong-Race Realty.
Max was a proud Mason and Shriner. He volunteered for 20 years at St. Luke's and PGA tour events.
He was a founding member of Lovely Lane UMC and an active member of St. Paul's UMC.
Max is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Dennis (Linda) Fitz; three daughters, Deann (Dan) Zenor, Denise (Ron) Feltes and Debra (Tom) Galvin; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Wanda.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to El Kahir Shrine.
