Max Lee Dyson, 80, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 9, 2014. Services: 1 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. Family will greet friends from noon until service time. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A luncheon will be served at the church following burial. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Janet Dyson of Cedar Rapids; children, Jeffery (Jane) Dyson of Willard, Mo., Michael (Renee) Dyson of Cedar Rapids, Shawn Fay (Mike Johnson) of Cedar Rapids and Shane (Angie) Dyson of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy; parents; and five brothers and sisters.
Max was born July 3, 1934, in Siebert, Colo., the son of George and Cora (Coleman) Dyson. He married Janet Nemecek in 1956. Max delivered The Gazette newspapers for 40-plus years and owned a small engine repair business. He enjoyed tinkering with small engines and fishing.
Max loved his grandchildren and great-grand-children dearly and they all will miss their Papa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hope Lutheran Church or an animal welfare organization of their choice.
