Max Duayne Brown, 87, of Marion, passed away Aug. 18, 2016, at Bickford Cottage in Marion.
Private family graveside services will take place at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Max was born Oct. 12, 1928, to Hugh and Ada (Mosier) Brown in New London, Iowa. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948. Max was united in marriage to Helen Frizzelle on Oct. 17, 1953, in Bellwood, Ill.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen of Marion; their two sons, Greg Brown of Melbourne, Australia, and Lindsay (Dianne) Brown of Marion; four grandchildren, Austin and Valerie Brown, Cara (Andre) Kahler and Kevin Brown; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Bennett Kahler; and siblings, C. Richard Brown of Arizona and Verleah (John) Kosloske of Alexandria, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Irene Brown; siblings, Dale and Ronald Brown and Ruth Pate; and a granddaughter, Caitlin Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous.
