Mausser, Robert 'Bob' Lloyd
Robert “Bob” Lloyd Mausser, 91, of Walker, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker, by Father Ardel Barta. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Gary (Margret) Mausser of Walker, Joyce (Doug) Henderson of Atkins and Carole (Duane) Dzingle of Marion; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Isabell Michael of Walker, Alice Muller of Monticello and Grace Carney of Washington state; brother-in-law, Ivan (Mary) Chester of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ellen Mausser and Rose Blood; brothers, John W. Mausser and Arthur “Dick” Mausser; granddaughter, Jaime Henderson; in-laws, Frank and Emma Chester; and brothers-in-law, Mel Blood, Robert Muller, Robert Haveman, Jim Carney and Leonard Michael.
Born May 27, 1921, in Filmore, Iowa, Bob was the son of John and Ellen (Rowan) Mausser. On Oct. 16, 1941, he was united in marriage to Ruth Chester at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. Bob worked at Iowa Manufacturing and Fruehauf Trailer Co. In 1963, he opened up Bob's Blacksmith Shop and, in 1973, he opened Mausser Manufacturing Co., producing rotating gravity grain spreaders that he invented.
Bob's joys were hunting and cat fishing. He was a volunteer fireman for the Walker Fire Department for 37 years and served on the city council.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Bob's memory to Hospice of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233.
