MAUREEN HYNES
Cedar Rapids
Maureen Kay Hynes of Edgecomb, Maine, peacefully died at home on the morning of Feb. 18, 2015, after a brief illness, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and devoted husband of 45 years, Michael Hynes.
Maureen was a loving wife, incredible mother, and enchanting Cha Cha to her grandchildren. She was quick to smile and laugh, forever compassionate and loyal and a cherished friend. All who had the pleasure to know her will dearly miss Maureen. Her parents, Joseph and Myrna Hughes; and her sister, Cynthia Smith, preceded her in death.
Maureen is survived by her daughter, Shannon Laubenstein, and her husband, Chuck, their children, Tyler and Reilly; her son, Eric Hynes and his wife, Christine Mahoney, and their children, Rita and Molly; her son, Casey Hynes and his wife, Amber; and her daughter, Elizabeth Hynes; and three beloved granddogs.
Maureen's sister, Pat Rigatuso and her husband, Joe; her brother-in-law, Jeri Smith; and five nieces and nephews also survive her.
After leaving her childhood home of Cedar Rapids, Maureen's love of family and travel found her living in Brunswick, Maine; Hanover, Mass.; Clifton, Va.; Beaufort, S.C.; and finally back to Maine, the place where she truly felt at home. She loved taking care of her family, the challenge of decorating a new house and her professional career as a dental assistant.
Please join her family at a Mass celebrating Maureen's life at 11 a.m. May 9, 2015, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Newcastle, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, Maureen would wish interested parties donate in her name to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens; (207) 633-4333; www.mainegardens.org.
Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, Belfast.
