Matthew, Sandra Jean Klosterman
Sandra Jean Klosterman Matthew, 72, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with cancer. A private family service will be held Saturday, Oct. 27.
Sandy was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Lewis Anton Klosterman and Hazel Jane Engelbrecht.
She is survived by her significant other, Bernie Matthew; three children, Darcy (Rick) Smejkal of Cedar Rapids, Lisa (Jud) Starn of Palo and Matt (Anita) Matthew of Castle Rock, Colo.; two grandchildren, Adam Smejkal and Zachary Smejkal; a brother, Bill Klosterman; a sister, Karen Losee; and nieces and nephews, Billy Klosterman, Kellie Sauser, Leah Weber and Michael Rensch.
Sandy graduated from Regis High School in 1959 and retired from Rockwell Collins after 33 years. She enjoyed collecting antiques, remodeling her home, reading, and flowers and plants.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Hospice House of Mercy for the wonderful care that was provided to Sandy.
