Matthew Allen, 48, of Marion, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 30, 2015. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, with a visitation one hour before the service. Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 5 p.m. Burial: Olin Cemetery in Olin, Iowa.
Survivors include his sisters, Molly (Chris) Becker of Cedar Rapids and Mindy (Dave) Moore of Marion; niece, Abbi; stepmom, Sharon Allen; stepsiblings, Scott (Sue) Edwards of Des Moines and Chris (Cliff) Strohecker of Marion; and stepnieces and nephews, Nick (Katie), Alex and Amanda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Julie; and his grandparents, Stanley and Erma Allen and Doug and Alta Cashman.
Matthew was born July 30, 1967, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Tom and Julie (Cashman) Allen. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1985. Matthew worked for FedEx as a custom critical driver before working for the Linn-Mar School District transportation department. He was a Cedar Valley World Tours bus driver and a member of the Masonic Lodge Ancient Landmark No. 200. He farmed for many years in rural Olin. Matt loved to travel, discuss politics, play games, spend time with his family and he was a great practical joker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the choice of the donor.
