Matrell Michael Eu'Gene Johnson, 18, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 18, 2019. Homegoing services will be
at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25,
at Gospel Tabernacle Church, located at 2531 42nd St. NE. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Matrell was born June 11, 2000, in Cedar Rapids the son of Michael Gene Hodges Sr. and Angela Denise Johnson. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Metro High School on Jan. 17, 2019. He enjoyed playing basketball and Xbox, as well as spending quality time with his friends and family, especially his siblings.
Matrell is survived by his parents; his siblings, Michael Jr. and Malon Hodges, Malique Johnson, Malaisha Hodges, Charleigh and Kemma Ratcliff and Kierra Thomas, all of Cedar Rapids; his grandparents, Elizabeth Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Leon Grafton of Mobile, Ala.; his aunts and uncles; as well as host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Florence and Willie B. Hodges,
