MATILDA "TILLIE" M. FISCHER

Matilda "Tillie" M. Fischer, 94, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Wheatland Manor. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at St. James Catholic Church in Toronto with Father Francis Odoom officiating. Burial will follow at the St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Tillie was born Jan. 27, 1923, to Dominic and Marie (Lecluse) Caes, in Stacyville, Iowa. Tillie loved to crochet and go mushroom hunting and fishing. She was a good cook, gardener and was a wonderful, hands-on mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Harold of Wheatland; children, Don (Shar) Straka of Wheatland, Richard (Rita) Straka of Hampton, Ill., and Deb (Don) Naughton of Solon; grandchildren, Dawn (Todd) Engler, Dave (Susan) Straka, Collin (Amy) Straka, Mechelle (Joe) Janz, Moe (Joe) Wertz, Brenna Choisser, Tom (Teri) Straka and Brad (Ken) Straka; 14 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Judy Meyer of Dubuque.
Tillie was preceded in death by her parents; son, James; daughter, Mary Lou; grandson, Steve; and granddaughter, Erin.
