Mason, Vivian B.
Vivian B. Mason, 80, of Olin, and a resident at the Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab Center for 18 years, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Olin Cemetery.
Vivian Bernice Appleby was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Hopkinton, Iowa, the daughter of Freddie Renzelo and Luella Vivine (Boots) Appleby. She married Faye Roland Sills Sr. and later married Robert Max “Boomer “ Mason on Sept. 18, 1976, in Nashua, Iowa. He died Aug. 13, 1978.
Vivian was a singer, cook, waitress and a factory worker. She retired from Sheller Globe, United Technology on Jan. 4, 1994.
She was a member of the Olin Methodist Church and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She was a volunteer for the Olin Historical Community.
She is survived by her children, Duane (Diana) Sills of Coggon, Cindy Thompson of Springville,
Kathryn (David) Spahr of Lisbon, Cliff (Laurie) Sills of Olin and Weona (David) Blok of Mount Vernon;
15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernadean DeWald of Oxford Junction and Mary (Duane) Kaplan of Iowa City; and four brothers, Paul (Roxy) Appleby, John (Rosemary) Appleby and Tom (JoAnn) Appleby, all of Cedar Rapids, and Larry (Mary Kay) Appleby of Oxford Junction.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Max Mason; two sons, Faye Jr. and Alfred Sills; four grandsons, her parents, three sisters, and three brothers.
She was loved and will be missed by all.
