Mashek, James G.
James G. Mashek, 76, of Jesup, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.
He was born March 25, 1937, at Decorah, Iowa, the son of George Clarence Mashek and Evelyn Mae (Strnad) Mashek. Jim graduated from Calmer High School with the class of 1955. On Aug. 7, 1965, he was united in marriage to Mary Jean Swestka in Protivin.
Survived by one son, Matthew Mashek of Jesup; three granddaughters, Amanda Ryherd of Mitchell, S.D., and Miranda Mashek and Mirrisa Mashek, both of Jesup; one sister, Gloria Mashek of Bettendorf; and one brother, David (Sharon) Mashek of Spillville.
In addition to his wife; his parents; one daughter, Janice and one granddaughter, Mercedes; preceded him in death.
Funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup. Burial at St. Athanasius Cemetery, Jesup, with military rites. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues for one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius School, Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 and Camp Courageous of Iowa.
