Masa J. (Hatch) Bunting, 88, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, at The Good Samaritan Home in Waukon. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Masa was born on Oct. 17, 1934, in San Bernadino, Calif., the daughter of Donald and Wilma (Billings) Hatch. She was a 1952 graduate of Alburnett High School. On Oct. 10, 1954, Masa was united in marriage to John W. Bunting in Central City, Iowa. She worked at Rockwell Collins for 35 years on the line. Masa was a member of the Linn County Genealogy Society, VFW Auxiliary and her embroidery club. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, volunteering at Mercy, wintering in Mission, Texas, with John and loved birds. Masa will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Masa is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Jim (Claudia) Bunting of Shellsburg, Iowa; daughter, Joan Fish of Luana, Iowa; grandchildren, James (Codee) Bunting, Ana (Josh) Masson, Andrea Bunting, John Blake, Jacelyn (Pete) McKee, Matthew (Ciara) Blake and Michelle (Doug) Crary; 13 great-grandchildren, Damon, Wesley, Jacob, John, Cecilia, Clara, Henry, Peyton, Jaxon, Charlee Marie, Ashlyn, Jase and Lila; and siblings, Bill Hatch, Donnie (Carol) Hatch and Joyce (Fred) Bergamo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Wilma; husband, John; and son-in-law, Dayton Fish.
