MaryAnne Danford, 77, of Marion, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022.
If you asked her why she was put on this Earth, she would say it was to love her family. She is survived by her children, Alexis Durow of Iowa City, Courtney Durow of Denver, Colo., and Jordan Durow of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her furry companion, Sugar. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Danford, sister, grandson, and parents.
In 1963, MaryAnne graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Perry, Iowa. For more than 40 years MaryAnne was a hairstylist. She loved making people feel good about themselves. Her clients remained with her throughout her career. She touched many lives working at Hv-Vee on Mount Vernon Road for many years.
To know MaryAnne was to love her, but more importantly, it meant you were laughing. She was pure joy to be around. It was no secret she liked sarcasm, fun poking and a dirty joke now and again. Some describe her as a woman with a “mouth like a sailor but a heart of an angel.” A friend remarked, “Heaven gained a smart ass.”
A private family graveside service will be held. MaryAnne will be buried with her husband and sister. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.iowacremation.com.
