Funeral services to celebrate the life of MaryAnn Hall, 47, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Davenport, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Her family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, before the services at the funeral home. Honoring her wishes, the rite of cremation has been accorded and burial will take place privately at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City. MaryAnn passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, in a tragic accident while visiting a friend in Phoenix, Ariz.
MaryAnn Mahaney was born Nov. 6, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Paul and Ann (McManus) Mahaney. She attended St. Mary's Academy, Nauvoo, Ill., and graduated from Kemper Academy in Boonville, Mo., in 1986. She attended Metropolitan Community College-Maplewood, Kansas City, Mo.
MaryAnn had worked many years in the security field and was recently pursuing a venture in the trucking industry. She was a Civil War buff and enjoyed traveling, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with friends and her rescue dogs, Charlie and Destiny. She loved horses and was a volunteer helping the handicapped to ride with the New England Trail Riders.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Terrie Mahaney, Davenport; and her special friend, Caroline Klenczon, Avondale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael. May they rest in peace.
Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, QCAWC, Milan, Ill., no-kill shelter and animal rescue.
