Maryann A. Michel, 85, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at Atrium Village in Hills.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at St. Joseph Church in Hills. Father Hai Denh will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the church. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Maryann Michel Memorial Fund.
Maryann was born May 7, 1937, in Coralville, the daughter of Loran Kohl and Mary Elizabeth (Hipp) Conklin. She was a 1955 graduate of University High School in Iowa City. On Oct. 25, 1958, Maryann married Clayton Michel in Hills and have been married for 64 years.
Maryann was employed for a few years at Paris Cleaners in Iowa City, and later became a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Maryann enjoyed gardening, especially growing her beautiful flowers and playing cards. She loved to travel as Clayton and Maryann wintered for many years in Sun City, Ariz., Golf Shores, Ala., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Florida and Texas.
Maryann is survived by her husband, Clayton; two sons, Brian (Cindy) Michel and Doug (Shelly) Michel, both of Riverside; five grandsons, Nathan, Adam, Logan, Jake (Jackie) and Josh; and one great-grandchild expected in February.
Maryann was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Francis Conklin; and her sister, Leona Prizler.
