MARY JOVITA ZUBER

Mary Jovita Zuber passed on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at The Bird House Hospice of Johnson County in Iowa City at the age of 75 years.
Jovita was born Jan. 14, 1942, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Myron LeRoy and Alice Theresa (Hartin) Misbach. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and received her R.N. degree from Mercy School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids. On Nov. 30, 1963, Jovita was united in marriage to Darrell E. Zuber at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. To this union, they were blessed with four children. They later divorced. She worked as a registered nurse and later as bookkeeper for the family business, Zuber Corp.
Jovita was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg, St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, Iowa County Heartland Quilters, Monkey Makers, Scarlet Gems Red Hats and several card clubs. She served as superintendent of the Open Show at the Iowa County Fair for eight years, was a 4-H member and leader and a volunteer at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, attending Iowa Hawkeye football games and spending time with family.
She is survived by her four children, Bart (Mellissa) Zuber of Marengo and Fonda (Ray) Garringer, Blake (Margie) Zuber and Faye (fiance Justin Clark) Zuber, all of Williamsburg; 13 grandchildren, Bryson (Annie) Garringer, Lance Garringer, Austin Hilligas, Jovita "Bree" Garringer, Rachel, Beth, Nicole and Zachary Zuber, Sabrina and Kendrick Cox, Jordan Zuber and Samantha and Nova Clark; two great-granddaughters, Mya and Ava Garringer; and a brother, Greg (Gloria) Misbach of Filer, Idaho.
She was preceded by her parents; a brother, Don Misbach; a son-in-law, Scott Hilligas; and a grandson, Steven Hilligas.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Father David Wilkening will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Prayer service will be at 4 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church, The Bird House Hospice of Johnson County or Hospice Compassus.
