Mary Louise Tinnes, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at Cottage Grove Health Care Center in Cedar Rapids. A graveside service will be Monday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at Friends Cemetery in Richland.
A memorial has been established for Hospice at UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids.
Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary was born Dec. 25, 1921, in St. Paul, Kan., the daughter of James Lawrence and Hulda (Goff) Gier. She was united in marriage to Roquel Tinnes in Washington, Iowa. Roquel passed away Sept. 12, 1989.
Mary and her family moved to Iowa when Mary was 7 years old. She has spent the last 50 years in Cedar Rapids. Mary worked for J.C. Penney and Spurgeon's and enjoyed sewing and reading.
She is survived by two nieces.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Howard Gier.
