MARY TIMMERMAN
Manchester
Mary Elaine Timmerman, 80, of Manchester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Jan. 3, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Delaware, Iowa, by Pastor Don Krause. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester, as well as one hour before services on Saturday.
Per her wishes, Mary will be cremated. Disposition of her earthly cremains will take place at a later date and with her immediate family.
Mary was born Sept. 16, 1934, the daughter of Eugene and Edna (Binning) Whitehead. She graduated from Greeley High School, and on Oct. 5, 1952, was united in marriage to Milo O. Timmerman. Born to this union were nine children: Kathleen, John, Jean, Wayne, Susan, Lori, Janeen, James and Amy.
Mary was a nurturing and loving mother, homemaker, provided in-home day care, and worked at the Delaware County Courthouse, as well as the Penn Center in Delaware County before her retirement.
Mary was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Delaware, where she sang in the choir. In January 2014, Mary moved into the memory care unit at Crestview Acres in Marion, where she made many new friends.
Mary had a kind heart and a gentle smile. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all.
Mary was very proud of all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary's passion was sewing – she was an amazing seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, playing games, and spending time with (and helping) others.
Mary had a wonderful sense of humor. She was especially fond of anything chocolate, and she never turned down an opportunity to enjoy some ice cream.
Mary is survived by her husband, Milo Timmerman; their children, Kathleen Timmerman (Rick Thomas), John (Becky) Timmerman, Wayne (Cathy) Timmerman, Susan (Steve) Wulfekuhle, Lori (Bob) Madrick, Janeen (Delbert) Hettinger, James (Leticia) Timmerman and Amy (Jason) Reeves; as well as many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving Mary are her siblings, Dorothy Seibert, Glenn (Mary) Whitehead, Jean (Lyle) Beck, Gary (Judy) Whitehead and Carole (Don) Jensen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Edna (Binning) Whitehead; her daughter, Jean (Jeannie) Timmerman; her grandsons, Scott J. Wulfekuhle and Mark M. Hettinger; and her sisters, Lois Philipp and Joyce Andrews.
Mary's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Crestview Acres in Marion and to the staff at the Good Neighbor Home and the Hospice of Comfort in Manchester for taking such good care of their mother in her final year and in her final days.
