Mary Frances Teahen Roe, 72, of Hesperia, Calif., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 18, 2015, in Ontario, Calif. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: St. Michael Cemetery, Norway. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and Saturday after 9 a.m. at the church.
Mary was born Dec. 4, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Henry and Marian Rahe Teahen. She graduated in 1960 from St. Patrick High School and attended Mount Mercy College. Mary married Patrick K. Roe on Aug. 25, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, moved to California in 1976, and resided in San Bernardino before moving to Hesperia. Pat died in 2010. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by two sons, Tim (Shari) Roe of Kennesaw, Ga., and Shawn (Lori) Roe, of Victorville, Calif.; two daughters, Kelly (Allen) Peterson of Marion and Shannon Heck of Claremont, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, Hank (Linda) Teahen of Temecula, Calif., Jim (Sue) Teahen of Marion and Peter (Janet Wilhelm) Teahen of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Terrance Roe of Victorville, Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Maureen (Ron) Salat of Spearfish, S.D., Ellen (Mark) Kashino of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Kathy Schmid of Middle Amana; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; her parents; and two brothers-in-law, Michael Roe and Michael Schmid.
Mary was a very creative person who could visualize an item and then with patience and skill make it become a reality, with her gift of sewing, quilting and detailed handiwork. She loved celebrating Christmas by filling her home with lights, decorations and the love of her children and grandchildren. For years Mary enjoyed playing her digital organ and attending organ classes with her friends. Mary always enjoyed road trips with Pat and finding a great deal while antique shopping. She enjoyed following politics, and with her husband, Pat, started a Tea Party group in Hesperia.
