Mary Rita Greiner, 80, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Center Point, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Scripture Service will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at Sacred Heart Church in Walker, Iowa. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the Heart of Mary Cluster Catholic Churches Facebook page starting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21.
Mary was born April 30, 1943, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Cooney) McNamara. She graduated from East Buchanan High School and Kirkwood Community College. She was united in marriage to Richard Charles Jones in Monti, Iowa, on June 2, 1962, and then on March 17, 2001, to Kenneth “Red” Greiner at Sacred Heart in Walker. She worked as a dental assistant, college recruiter for DeVry Institute and Southeast Academy, Walmart associate and Uber driver. She was a member of Sacred Heart, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, St. Agnus, and the Golden Girls. Mary loved to travel, dance, play cards and meet new people. She enjoyed Irish music and attending her children and grandchildren’s events. Mary had a deep love for her family, her faith, and her friends. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Survivors include her children, Rose Marie (Tim) Jones of Birmingham, Iowa, Danny (Nancy) Jones of Walker, Kenny (Terri) Jones of Swisher, Iowa; stepchildren, Bradley Greiner and Kendra (Matt) Kisling, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Pat (Jessica) Jones, Chris (Caitlin) Jones, Nicholas Jones, Dustin Jones, Chelsea (Ian) Bakewell, and Conner Jones; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Brittney Greiner and Lily, Charlie and Callum Kisling; great-grandchildren, Ava, Kate, Dawson, Carrick, Quinn, and Kendall; brother, Joe McNamara; nieces and nephews; special family friends, Jean Wright and family; and her special friends from Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Richard Jones, and Kenneth “Red” Greiner; brothers, Donald and Jimmy; and close friends, Mary Jane Walton and Sally Welsh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart.
