MARY ROSINE REGENNITTER
Oxford Junction
Mary Rosine Regennitter, 93, of Oxford Junction, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at the Clarence Nursing Home after a brief illness. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the church with burial following in Mayflower Cemetery. Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction will be assisting the family at this time.
Rosine was born Aug. 24, 1923, on the family farm east of Oxford Junction, Iowa, to Joseph and Anna (Nolan) Lasack. Her father served in France during World War I and died of tuberculosis in 1933, when Rosine was 9 years old. Her mother Anna raised Rosine and her younger brother, Paul, on the farm during the hardship years of the Great Depression. Rosine attended Oxford Junction schools, graduating in 1940 and AIC Business School in Davenport for two years. Later, she worked at Soppe Implement in Oxford Junction, where she met her future husband, Glen Albert Regennitter.
Rosine and Glen were married on Oct. 4, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. Rosine was the bookkeeper for their Regennitter Repair business, until Glen retired in 2010 at the age of 92. They raised six children, including their son Thomas Glen, who contracted encephalitis as an infant and was left with severe learning disabilities. Rosine and Glen devoted much of their lives to caring for their special-needs son. On Oct. 4, 2016, Rosine and Glen quietly celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Rosine was preceded in death by their son, Thomas, in 2014; and her parents, Joseph and Anna Lasack.
She is survived by her husband, Glen of Clarence; sons, Frederick (Judy) of Rochester, Minn., John (Mary Jo) of Fairlawn, Ohio, and Tony (Ann) of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Mary (Robert) Ankenbauer of Portage, Mich., and Cathy (Alan) Cipolone of Brooklawn, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Paul (Mary) Lasack of Oxford Junction; and many nieces and nephews.
May she rest in peace.
