Mary M. Postma, 68, of Palo, formerly of Mason City, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, following a
lengthy illness at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Mary's burial will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Mary M. Postma Memorial Fund, c/o Paige Friederick, 2955 Eastern Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
Mary Margaret Postma was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Mason City, the daughter of Harold and Margaret (Andersen) Draheim. She married Dick G. Postma on July 3, 1965. Mary was a 1964 graduate of Mason City High School and attended Mason City Junior College.
They lived in Mason City for many years, moving to Marion in 1988 and to Palo in 1999.
She enjoyed shopping, antiquing and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dick Postma, Palo; four children, Matt Postma, Cedar Rapids, Ann (Corey) Day, Clive, Paige (Bart) Friederick, Cedar Rapids, and Megan (Micah McDermed) Postma, Robins; eight grandchildren, Hailey Postma, Sydney and Nolan Day, Logan and Alexa Friederick, Jordan, Brittany and Caden Postma; brother, Tom (Sandy) Draheim, rural Rockwell; sister-in-law, Karen Draheim, Waterville, Minn.; niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bill Draheim.
