MARY PORTER Cedar Rapids Mary E. Porter, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday morning, May 13, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: noon Monday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, by the Rev. William Harnish. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mary is survived by her children, Ruth (Larry) Van Deusen and Beverly Jean (Mike) Gutierrez, both of Cedar Rapids, Harold Jr. (Shirley) Porter, Lakewood, Colo., Gary (Kelly) Porter, Ely, Michael (Shelley) Porter, Parker, Colo., Mitchell (Mary) Porter and James (Jennifer) Porter, both of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Nancy Porter, Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Bud" Sr.; son, Richard; granddaughter, Emily Bristow; her parents; and 12 brothers and sisters. Mary was born Jan. 10, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, to James H. and Ethel M. (Shrope) Franks and was a lifelong resident. She married Harold E. Porter on Nov. 27, 1949, at Sinclair Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids. Harold died Feb. 12, 2012. Mary attended Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church. Family was very important to Mary. She loved raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was an excellent baker and enjoyed decorating cakes.
