Mary Philomena Pisney, 99, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Cedar Rapids, located at 1224 Fifth St. SE, with burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar
Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where there will be a 6 p.m. Celebration of Life conducted by Pastor Mike Pisney and Pastor Jeff Pishney.
Mary was born on the family farm near Watkins, the daughter of George and Mary (Voss) Gessner, on March 29, 1916.
She was known as the sweet lady with the beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eye.
Since she had trusted Jesus to be her personal Savior, she is now in heaven.
She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother and grandmother, with many wonderful friends, and will be greatly missed.
Mary is
survived by her son, Dave (Pat) Pisney; her daughter, Carol (Larry) Ross; seven grandchildren, Mike, Jeff, Matt, Sarah, Joy, Roger and Stacy; and 12 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lumir; daughter, Nancy; three brothers and one sister.
