Mary Pierce, 72, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer Oct. 30, 2015, surrounded by her family at her home in Marion. Celebration of Life: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Thomas Park Safe Room, Marion. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Danette (Mike) Madison of Marion, and children, Delaney and Miranda Madison; daughter, Danelle (Tom) Kydd of Marion, and her children, Nick, Emily, Alison and Nate Carney; son, Jason (Jenna) Pierce of Cedar Rapids, and child, Ean Pierce; her late daughter, Denise's children, Kaiden, Karsyn, Kolin, Lily, Ryer and Gabe Wilmoth; sister, Barbara (George) Kopetsky of Marion; her loyal pets, Brodie and Delilah; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Denise Wilmoth; parents, Robert and Bessie Bittner; and former husband and best friend, Dennis Winkie.
Mary was born Aug. 14, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert and Bessie (Wagner) Bittner. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School. Mary worked for Quaker Oats for close to 30 years before retiring in 2005.
She had a love of all animals and enjoyed watching her backyard squirrels and humming-birds as they came to visit her. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden. But above all, Mary had an amazing and unconditional love for her family.
