Mary Janet Allis Peterson, 88, passed away after a short illness on Feb. 15, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital
in Cedar Rapids.
Janet was born May 25, 1925, to Lewellyn and Eula
Fay Allis. She graduated from Beloit (Wis.) High School in 1943. She married Kenneth Roland Peterson, the love of her life, in 1948. She was widowed in 1966, left to raise three children. She was active in Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron.
A talented artist, Janet enjoyed painting and all forms of needlework. She was an avid reader and member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church.
In retirement she lived in Woodruff, Wis., for several years, moving to Cedar Rapids to be closer to family.
Janet is survived by her children, Kris (Scott) Fretheim, Ken (Katie) Peterson and Diane (Scott) Stepanek; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service is planned.
