MARY "PATTY" ECKERMANN

Mary "Patty" Eckermann, 57, of Oxford, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cosgrove with the Rev. Edmond Dunn officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Cosgrove.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
Patty was born Jan. 4, 1958, in Iowa City, the daughter of Dale and Kay (McGurk) Dahnke. She graduated from Clear Creek Amana High School and Kirkwood Community College with an associate's degree in horticulture. She married David Eckermann on Aug. 27, 1983, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford. Patty was employed by the Iowa City Area Realtors. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church Altar and Rosary, enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and especially loved and cherished spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Dave; two daughters, Kristy Simonsen (Jon) of Cedar Rapids and Stacy McCoy (Sean) of Tiffin; sister, Betty Dahnke of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Evan and Ethan Simonsen of Cedar Rapids; and her sweet dog, Ellie Mae.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
