Mary Jane Moyers was born Aug. 8, 1956, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of John C. "Kippy" and Lola J. (Bymer) Moyers. She attended Central Junior High School and graduated from Iowa City High with the class of 1974. In August 1977, she married Perry Miller in Iowa City and they proudly raised two successful daughters. She was proud to be an Iowa City native, living nearly her entire life in the Goosetown neighborhood, and very much enjoyed the history surrounding the area. Mary worked for 37 years at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in central sterilizing and was currently working at the UI College of Dentistry. She was the current president of the Central Service Association of Iowa Inc., as well as a founding member.
When not antiquing with Perry, Mary delighted in being "Grandma" to her two grandchildren and playing with her granddogs. Mary was an incredibly proud mother and grandmother. Her stubborn nature and genuine, whole-hearted, caring personality will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Her family includes her husband of nearly 39 years, Perry; daughters, Mandy Ware and her husband, Kyle, and Sara Miller and her significant other, Patrick Langford, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Alayna and Kieran; and brothers, John and Jim Moyers of Iowa City and Jeff Moyers of Las Vegas, Nev.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerry; and her granddog, Macho.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Mary's family and her services.
