MARY M. MILLER Cedar Rapids Mary M. Miller, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Woodlands at Meth-Wick. Services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial: St. John Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home where friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mary is survived by her husband, George; four children, Michael (Laura Runkle) of Cedar Rapids, Catherine (Davis) Foster, Mary Ann Miller (Brian McKnight), both of Iowa City, and James (Virginia) Miller of Pasadena, Calif.; six grandchildren, Adam, Christopher, Alex, Sam, Libby and Christopher Tomas; great-grandson, JD; brother, Mike (Mariella) McNally of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, James C. Jr. Mary Patricia was born April 30, 1934, in Grinnell, the daughter of James and Vera McDonald McNally. On Nov. 26, 1954, she married George Anthony Miller at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell. Mary attended the University of Iowa. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mary was very active in a variety of ways. She wrote programs for the University of Iowa WSUI public radio, volunteered at Pierce Elementary in the library and for their Rock and Read Program and took care of the Manor Library at Meth-Wick. Mary loved to read and listen to classical music and had aspirations of being a ballet dancer and a writer. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
