MARY JANE MIEHE
Elkader
Mary Jane Miehe, 84, of Elkader, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016. Mary Jane was born May 2, 1932, in Dubuque, to Elmer "Dick" and Greta Jane (Miller) Carlsen.
Mary Jane graduated from Elkader High School in 1950, then attended the University of Dubuque for two years. She taught school at St. Olaf and Garnavillo schools for a few years. She was united in marriage to James Joseph Miehe on March 15, 1952. She enjoyed raising her children and helping at the family implement.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane (Dr. Merle) Kuennen of Elkader; grandchildren, Mary (Omar) Kilany of Dallas, Texas, and Dr. Nick (Ara) Kuennen of Chicago, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Stephen and Andrew Kilany; brother and sister-in-law, John (Vernelda, who was like a sister) Miehe of Elkader; and sister-in-law, Sharon Miehe.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carrie Myers; brothers-in law and sister-in-law, Patrick (Dottie) Miehe and Daniel Miehe.
Funeral service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader.
Inurnment: East Side Cemetery, Elkader.
Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
