MARY IRENE (RENAUD) MELANSON

Mary Irene (Renaud) Melanson, 90, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at Crestview Acres in Marion. At her request, there will not be a visitation. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Cedar Memorial is in charge of cremation.
Mary Irene Renaud was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Fitchburg, Mass. She was the second daughter of Etienne (Stephen) Renaud and Aurore DeBonville Renaud. She graduated from St. Bernard's High School and Gardner State Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an LPN at Pondville State Hospital in Massachusetts for 20 years. She worked in SNF at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids until her retirement. Irene married Ronald Melanson. They later divorced but remained friends.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Jane Brydon and son-in-law Al of Marion; her granddaughter, Deborah Brydon of Marion; her grandson, Timothy Hare and wife Janelle of Morehead, Ky.; great-grandson, Alexander Hare of Columbus, Ohio; and great-grand-daughters, Honor Hare and Margot Hare of Morehead. She is also survived by three nephews, two nieces and longtime friend, Erma Allison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Eva Baraw; and a brother, Robert Renaud.
