Mary Eileen McMahon, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly in her home Sunday, March 29, 2015. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 3, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Mary was born Jan. 27, 1951, in Oelwein, the daughter of Emmett and Mina (Odekirk) McMahon. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1969. She worked for American Airlines in New York City before returning to Iowa, where she attended Kirkwood Community College studying business. Mary then worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas until her retirement in 2001.
Mary enjoyed scuba diving, pottery, gardening, crafting, reading, shopping and spending time with her neighbors, friends and family.
Mary is survived by her brothers, Tom (Gwen) McMahon of Mount Vernon and Mike (Wanda) McMahon of Muscatine; three nieces, Christina Osborn, Cindy (Andy) Dunham and Carrie (Brad) Pumphrey; two nephews Wade McMahon and Shane (Rachael) McMahon; six great-nieces; three great-nephews; and her beloved cat, Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
