Mary Louise Stepanek, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at her home in Cedar Rapids, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Lou was born
Feb. 3, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter
of the late Edward and Esther (Dvorak) Unash. On July 31, 1948, she married the love of her life John L. Stepanek Sr., at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, together they raised four sons.
Mary Lou had various jobs. She retired from Grant Wood AEA in 1990. The next several years were spent as a volunteer. She enjoyed several years with the Red Cross.
A private family service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on with Chaplain Joe Kane from Mercy Hospice officiating.
She is survived by her four sons, Jeff (Sue), Scott (Dianne), John Jr. (Joyce) and Mike (Rhonda) Stepanek, all of the Cedar Rapids area; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her brother, Don; and her cousin, John Beranek.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Church at 1000 30th St., Cedar Rapids; or to Mercy Hospice.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids and Mercy Hospice for all the love and support they showed Mary Lou while she was in their care.
