Mary Lou Fairlie, 87, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Swisher, passed away Oct. 8, 2016, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Private burial.
Mary Lou is survived by her children, Andrew (Christina) Fairlie of Lebanon, Ill., LuRie Fairlie, Stefanie (Rocky) Cihla, Emma Jo (John) Pulver, Anthony (Elizabeth) Fairlie, all of Cedar Rapids, Audrey (Art) Johnson of San Antonio, Texas, and Timothy (Crystal) Fairlie of Marion; sisters, Carmen, Connie and Peggy; brother, Larry; grandchildren, Marie, Jeffrey, Cheme, Mary Lou, Caleb, Hannah, Esther, Isaac, RaeAnnon, Austin, Katie and Zach; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her spouse, Austin; brothers and sisters, Betty, Richard, Raymond, Sylvia, Shirley, Paul, Royce and Rolland; and grandson, Reggie.
Mary Lou was born April 5, 1929, the daughter of Raymond and Myrtle (Miller) Pohlpeter. She married Austin Fairlie on May 28, 1949, in Fort Madison. Mary Lou was a loving wife and mother who raised her family in Swisher. She also was a member of American Legion Post 671, Swisher, and St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
