MARY LOU DEWEERDT
Cedar Rapids
Mary Lou DeWeerdt of Cedar Rapids died at age 89 on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Evergreen Estates. A private burial and celebration of her life is planned for a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Mary Lou is survived by one daughter and four sons: Cindy Kelley of Phoenix, Ariz., John Rebarcak of Davenport, Rod (Cindy) Rebarcak of Ames, Gary Vince II Rebarcak of Durand, Ill., and Dave Rebarcak of Ames. She has 24 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She lived with her sister, Donna Prince of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rebarcak; two sons, Kenneth and Gary Vince; as well as her brother, Bud Hurley; and sister, Susan Shipman.
Mary Lou was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Fort Dodge. She was the daughter of Roy and Amanda Schwabbauer Hurley. She married John Rebarcak, who died in 1963.
Mary Lou was a fantastic homemaker and caregiver. She devoted her time to her loving children, grand-children and animals (she was very fond of her dog). She believed it was always more important to put others before herself without return. Mary Lou loved reading books and the National Enquirer, and was always ready for fun. She will be greatly missed.
